Evangelion, on!
In general, this matter interested me. Not only with numerous allusions and Japanese mind-blowing (although it is very thorough here). More psychologism for which Dostoevsky, grinning into his beard, would give a fat five. At the end of the 1995-1996 series, it actually seemed to me that I was watching the Japanese version of Guardians – NOBODY wanted to save the world. All actions were for oneself, for the sake of solving one’s internal problems. And the decision was, of course, quite radical (although from the point of view of Japanese culture everything is, in general, normal).
Thoughts on the ending
Actually, in Japan, a person as a person has not had much significance since ancient times (now everything has changed somewhat due to the influence of the West). For example, dying for the sake of the person who saved your life is a worthy thing. This thinking was partly formed due to religion, according to which every living being is reborn after death. So death is only a small obstacle and therefore it must be worthy (so that it will be reborn not into a caterpillar, but into a person). And the end, in which all living things merge into a single whole, losing barriers between themselves, is very close to the Japanese. The personality leaves, solving all its problems and fully realizing its motives, and a super-broth arises in which all the spiritual heritage of people is mixed. Personally, I found this ending, to put it mildly, sad. I don’t want to lose my individuality in order to solve all my psychological problems.
It’s interesting that in End of Eva he makes a choice in favor of individuality.
The rebuild moved away https://wilberforceinstitute.uk/online-gambling-software-providers from psychology towards very high-quality pictures, cool fights and a larger number of Japanese mind-blowers. Personally, I superimposed my impressions of the original onto the picture of the rebuild and didn’t feel "defectiveness" characters, as fans talk about it on forums (yes, I visited fan sites too). But the departure from the plot of the original and a couple more features with the world of Evangelion undoubtedly pleased me.
Although, of course, the author of these lines did not particularly like Japanese expressism and obsession with… Freud. And translation too. It’s better to watch with subtitles than to listen to a monologue. I watched the second rebuild with English subtitles – much better than with audio translation.
In general, all anime lovers and haters should watch it – I, for example, really liked it out of everything I watched, only the subject.
List of anime:
First anime 1995 – 1996
The most interesting. A lot of attention is paid to the inner world of the heroes.
"Death and Rebirth"
The original is compressed into one anime with loss of quality.
End of Evangelion
Alternate ending. Attention! — the level of psychedelism is off the charts.
First rebuild
Interesting. Quite close to the first episodes of the original.
Second rebuild
Interesting. There are already strong differences with the original.
